Landscaped Atlanta HomeIf you want to attract buyers, one of the first things you must do is present them with a beautiful yard. After all, your yard is the first thing your buyers will see when they drive past your home or when they pull up for a closer look.

We all want to make our homes look warm and inviting to potential buyers, and one of the quickest ways is to improve the look of our landscaping. However, at the same time, we want to show them that the landscaping is also eco-friendly and easy to maintain.

If you are interested in selling your home and your landscape needs a little TLC, here are some tips to help you get started:

1.     Before planting, consider whether your landscape would benefit from an irrigation system. Because irrigation systems will disrupt the landscaped beds when installed, it is best to decide whether to install irrigation before you begin planting. If water conservation is an issue, consider installing drip irrigation around your plants and flowers; this type of watering saves water while deeply watering all of your plants, shrubs and flowers.

2.     If your beds are poorly defined, take the time to edge them out in soft curves. This will make your landscape appear more natural and will give your home the great curb appeal you are seeking.

3.     Talk to a professional horticulturist to decide which plants and shrubs will be best in your yard. In particular, you may want to choose native, hardy plants and shrubs that will withstand the weather in your area and will be more resistance to disease. In addition, native plants and shrubs will demand much less water than other plants that are not native to the area.

4.     Add a thick layer of mulch to your landscaped beds to retain water and soil moisture and to add a finished, attractive touch to your landscape.

5.     Consider adding landscape lighting for a dramatic nighttime effect. Research your options regarding landscaping lighting, as many solar lighting systems and LED lighting systems will use very little (or no) power, thereby remaining eco-friendly.

6.     Consider adding a small water feature for a Zen experience. Added touches such as small ponds or fountains in a landscape are sure to attract the attention of your buyers and really highlight your landscape.

Of course, your existing landscaping can be upgraded simply with a bit of TLC. Make sure to take the time to neatly prune and trim any existing plants and shrubs to finish off your landscaped yard.
